Tide stone

Postby jerry » Sun Apr 29, 2007 2:42 pm

In 1783 A tide stone 3 feet high and inscribed with the shield of Newcastle upon Tyne was erected on the bank of the Tyne at Heddon-on-the-Wall. It marks the tidal limit of the river and the limit of the jurisdiction of the Port of Tyne authority.

I've never been able to find the thing.
