at this moment in time newbiggin by the sea regeneration project is in full swing, part of the project is to rebuild the beach with sand from down south which is brought up by ship then piped in from the ship onto the beach, in the photo below you can see the ship in the bay and just make out the pipe in the ships bow

Would be nice to see the beach at Newbiggin restored to its former glory. I was there twice last summer and it`s a cannny little village. I wonder if the ice cream parlour is still open? On my second visit, it was closed owing to illness.*

PS. Nice photos admin: :) I`ve just bought a digital camera (my first); maybe when I get the hang of things I`ll post some some of my own - still working it out...

* I am of course refering to the ice cream parlour; to the best of my knowledge, Newbiggin has never been closed owing to illness.

there is a very nice little cafe/restaurant in newbiggin which sells fresh fish and chips etc, spot on, it has a very olde world look to the place and the service is first class
